Brand New Daiwa STEEZ SHORE COMPETITION SC S64L-SV-ST FIRE FLASH Rod
SC S64L-SVă»ST [FIRE FLASH]
The New Guardian of Land-Based Finesse
A new guardian has arrived to command the finesse game of Koutarou Kawamura, the king of shore fishing.
Six years after launching his Shore Competition series, this marks the third spinning model in the STEEZ original lineup, following the 11 SERGEANT and 14 KING BOLT F-spec.
When speaking of Kawamuraâs finesse fishing, the 14 KING BOLT F-spec immediately comes to mind.
Inheriting the advantages of the ultra-lightweight and highly sensitive SVF COMPILE-X used in the original 06 KING BOLT, it was a versatile spinning rod further refined to handle lighter rigs.
âThe lightness, sensitivity, and repulsive power of SVF COMPILE-X are essential for worm fishing.
But at the same time, I wanted a softer, less rigid tip.â
The more Kawamura used it, the more his ideal of âgreater versatilityâ grew stronger.
In todayâs increasingly tough fishing environments, the need to handle even lighter rigs and smaller worms became an absolute necessity.
âMy target was rigs under 1.8g.
With lighter weights, itâs easy to pull the rig too much during slow dragging.
I wanted to be able to stop precisely at subtle changes, and avoid the situation where I realize too late that Iâve already lifted it by shaking.
Also, when a fish bites a 3-inch class shad-tail worm during a steady retrieve, I want to give it a moment to turn before setting the hook.â
Stopping the rig even at the slightest change.
Letting it intentionally hang off cover rather than by accident.
Allowing the fish to take the worm naturally, without feeling resistance.
To achieve all these, Kawamura and DAIWA began their journey in search of the ultimate finesse spinning rod.
âOriginally, I wasnât fond of solid tips.
Just seeing visible bites wasnât enough feedback.
I wonderedâcould we make one that wasnât extremely fast-tapered, but closer to a regular taper?
I wanted to make the impossible possible.â
The solution Kawamura found was in the very thing he had once rejected: a solid tip.
He made a bold decisionâto intentionally reduce elasticity and combine a medium-elastic solid tip with the ultra-sensitive SVF COMPILE-X belly-to-butt section.
âThe medium-elastic solid tip, with its slower rebound, allows it to âabsorbâ the slightest movements even with light rigs.
At the same time, the contrast with the SVF COMPILE-X section makes it possible to transmit even faint vibrations directly to your hand.â
This is the victory of a taper design that unites suppleness and sensitivity.
The regular-leaning taper also improves compatibility with small plugs such as the STEEZ Shad and Gastonade 70, making them perform even better.
Finally, the blank is finished in âKawamura Redââa fiery shade that glows under the sun, igniting the anglerâs fighting spirit.
